Josh Weisenfels has been racing motorcycles for half of his life yet he'll be the first to tell you that he's just now getting started.  As a child he competed regionally in the youth classes at local enduro and hare scramble events with some motocross thrown in every once in awhile.  It was apparent to many onlookers that he had an extraordinary talent on two wheels.  He spent his early teenage years progressing through the ranks of the Arkansas Hare Scramble Championship Series before finally advancing to the Pro class in 2001 at the age of 15.  In 2002 he won that championship in convincing style and then immediately started traveling to Texas to test his skills against an entirely new set of riders.

In 2003 Josh and his father Al decided to follow the entire East Coast WORCS series.  It was a huge learning experience for him as he found himself lining up against guys that just months before he had been reading about in magazines.  He did quite well, however, finishing 6th overall for the year and also attracting attention from Ty Davis and the Zip Ty Racing team.   That same year he raced two GNCC's in the 200A class and won both with an extremely impressive 11th overall finish at the Florida round.

2004 was yet another learning year for Josh as he stayed in California with the support of Zip Ty Racing to contest the entire WORCS series.  He soon found that the West Coast does not share much in common with the East Coast style tracks that he grew up riding.  His season had many ups and downs but unfortunately ended in late 2004 with an injury that he battled for many months into the 2005 season.  Approaching 2006 he decided to step back and evaluate where he wanted to be and what his long term goals were.  He ultimately decided to stay in Arkansas and rebuild his program from the beginning.  After 11 overall wins including a big hometown win at the 2006 Riverfront Grand Prix, he knew it was time to set his sights higher and compete on a national stage once again.

The introduction of the "XC2" pro class in the GNCC's in 2007 gave him the perfect opportunity to do just that.  After beginning the season with flashes of brilliance, Josh earned two GNCC podium finishes as well as a podium at the OMA race in Arkansas aboard his nearly bone stock YZ250F through the halfway point of the season.  It was at this point that he was able to secure a ride with Fred Andrews Racing  for the remainder of the year.  With the help of FAR, Josh was able to score several more podium finishes to finish out the '07 season.

As 2008 approaches, Josh is back with FAR only this time for a full season.  With a solid program in place coupled with plenty of hunger and desire, it's sure to be a season filled with excitement.
