Well it's been awhile since I've updated the site and quite frankly it's because not much has happened until just recently!  I've got my deal for 2008 worked out and I'll be back with Fred Andrews Racing.  As far as bikes go, we'll be riding a brand that I'm very comfortable with and has performed well for me in the past.  It's nice going into the year knowing more of what to expect with not only the races but the team as well.  Fred is a legend of the GNCC series and a former series champion so it's great being able to get input from one of the best.  And as I've said before, our mechanic Joey has got to be the best mechanic in the pits so I know our bikes will be solid all year long.

The 2007 Yamaha YZ250F is up for sale if anyone is interested in a great bike for next year.  It hasn't been ridden since June when it took me to the XC2 podium at the Spartan GNCC so I know it's still in race ready condition.  Anyone interested can send me an e-mail at joshweisenfels@gmail.com and I'll give you the scoop!

I'm about to head out to Ohio where I'll be for a few days before attending the GNCC banquet in Pennsylvania this upcoming weekend.  I've never been to a GNCC banquet before but I've heard they are pretty fun so I made the tough decision to go instead of racing at River Front this weekend.  I guess that decision was also a little bit easier to make since I don't really have a bike right now!  There's still a lot of time before next season and I'm hoping that something will be firmed up pretty soon so that I can start practicing and testing for a successful 2008 season.

Good luck to everyone that is racing at River Front this weekend!  Hope to see everyone at the races in '08.  It'll be here before we know it!

The season ending race in Crawfordsville, Indiana didn't go all that well for me but I'm already trying to put it behind me and focus more on next season.  2007 was a rollercoaster of a year, that's for sure, and I'm glad I was able to get up on the podium as much as I did.  I ended up finishing the series in 4th place for the XC2 class which I'm pretty proud of considering the amount of talent in the class.  I've got to thank the entire Fred Andrews family and our mechanic Joey Mauer for helping me out the 2nd half of the season.  They gave me an awesome bike to ride every week and made it so easy for me to just focus on riding.  I have to say that it was hard giving back my practice bike last week!

I know it's a bit short notice but I'll be appearing as a guest tonight on DMXS Radio.  I'm not sure who the other guests are going to be yet but they always great shows so you'll definitely want to listen. It starts at 8pm Eastern / 7pm Central but if you miss the live show you can register and listen to the archive anytime you want.  I also believe they offer a podcast. Check it out at dmxsradio.com.

Things went fairly well at the race in Ohio yesterday and I was able to snag my third podium in a row.  Look for a complete race report tomorrow.  For a quick rundown on the entire event, click here for the GNCC report.

Just wanted to make a quick update and say that I've posted some pictures from the Guthrie Endurocross in the Photo section.

I'm leaving tomorrow for the Powerline Park GNCC in Ohio so check back here Monday or Tuesday to see how things went!

Jenn Sheppard with the GNCC series called yesterday for an interview and it's up today on the GNCC site.  Click here to check it out!

One thing I haven't really mentioned is that I went to the Endurocross in Guthrie, Oklahoma last weekend.  Since it was a last minute decision to even go, I was not prepared at all!  After I got an 18" rear wheel from a friend (Thanks Jim!), Steve Leivan was gracious enough to lone me a trials tire to use.

The race itself was pretty wild and surprisingly physical.  Simple three lap races that lasted less than five minutes felt like they took forever!  Overall it was a fun experience but I wasn't too bummed to not make the main event.  My main goal was to just qualify for the evening program which I was able to do. After a full day of practices and qualifying races, I was beat and ready to get some rest.

The Yadkinville race report is up along with a few photos from the race.  You can find it in the Results section.

I also have to mention a raffle that Amanda Mastin is organizing to help raise funds for herself, Jimmy Jarrett and Dennis Decker to go to this years ISDE in Chile.  A single $5 ticket gives you a chance to win a huge load of pro rider jerseys.  They even came by and got mine after the race at Yadkinville!  Some others they'll have include David Knight, Barry Hawk, Rodney Smith, Jessie Robinson, Shane Watts, Mike Lafferty, Charlie Mullins, Jimmy Jarrett, Scotty Watkins, Justin Williamson, Glenn Kearney, Jason Raines, PA Allen, Russell Bobbitt, Thad Duvall, Josh Strang, Garrett Edmisten, Robbie Jenks, Kailub Russell, Brian Garrahan, and Mandi herself.

The winner will be picked at the Ironman GNCC in Indiana on October 28th so be sure to buy a few tickets!

We're working on getting the race report up for the Yadkinville GNCC this past weekend in North Carolina.  It should be up tonight or in the morning.  In the mean time there's a photo report from Jason Hooper up at the GNCC site you can check out here.  The race was fun as a rider and apparently pretty exciting for the fans!

I had been somewhat considering doing the Endurocross in Oklahoma this coming weekend as just a fun thing to try but with my foot hurting like it currently is, that's definitely not going to be an option!  I may still try to make it out there to watch though.  I keep hearing about how good the racing is.

Unadilla is now in the books and fortunately it went pretty well for me.  The race report is up in the results section along with the reports from Somerset and Athens, Texas.  Sorry it's taken so long to get everything current!

GNCC photographer Jason Hooper has been kind enough to send me some photos from Somerset and Unadilla and you'll find those in the race reports as well.  Thanks Jason!

It's time for the Unadilla GNCC which is one I've looked forward to for awhile.  I know it's been wet up there lately  but the weather forecast is looking good so hopefully we'll have good conditions by Sunday.

I raced a TCCRA race this past weekend in Athens, Texas and it was fun!  Thanks to everyone that said hello...everyone made me feel welcome!  I'll be posting the race report soon in the Results section if you'd like to read more about it.

Tomorrow a few of us are heading over to Millville, Minnesota for the OMA race.  A lot of rain has fallen in that area lately but I'm sure they'll do their best to get the track in good condition.  I should be getting back to Ohio and then there are just a few short days to prepare for the GNCC in Pennsylvania.  The summer break is just about over and it's time to go racing!

Wednesday, August 8, 2007

All has been well here in Ohio.  A few weeks ago I got to do some riding with country music singer Craig Morgan and his son.  Craig is a sponsor of the Fred Andrews Racing team and also an avid rider himself.  He had a concert in town later that night so we all went to that and had a good time.  You can check out his website here: www.craigmorgan.com

This past weekend I decided to try my first bicycle road race.  It was raining as I was driving out there Sunday morning so I wasn't so sure about it but when I went to sign up they said everything was still a go!  I didn't really know what to expect but I mainly just wanted to be able to stay with the lead pack, which I did!  A group of about 10 of us broke away and sprinted towards the finish line at the end.  We all crossed the finish line in a pack and I was credited with 7th place.  It was actually a better finish than I expected and I'm hoping to try another one soon!

We've added some pictures of the ride day with Craig as well as a picture from the bicycle race in the Photo section.  I've got to thank Jeff Kardy (www.kardyphoto.com) for the awesome riding pictures.  He does a lot of work for magazines and advertisements and puts out some truly top notch stuff.

I'm headed up to Ohio today.  Hopefully I'll be able to hit some local races while I'm there and get some good practice in under race conditions.  I'll let you guys know how it's going!

Friday, June 29, 2007

Well the summer break is here and there's quite awhile until the next GNCC so that should give me plenty of time to get this site in order!  I know I keep saying that but it's really going to happen!  I'm sort of having to learn as I go with some of this web stuff and it takes a lot of time to figure out!

I'm not going to be able to make the Arkansas race this weekend in Texarkana.  Two weeks ago I had to miss the race near Fayettville because I was in Ohio testing with the Kawasaki team but this time it's because I don't have a bike to ride!  At Snowshoe I raced what was to become my practice bike but the course ended up being so tough on equipment that the team wanted to have a chance to take it back to the shop and go over it before I brought it home.

Wednesday, June 27, 2007

The race at the Snowshoe is now complete and although things didn't go as well as hoped, I'm just glad to be out of there in one piece.  It was a nasty race and I'm sure anyone that raced will agree with me.

For those that may not have heard, the Monster Energy / FAR / Pro Circuit Kawasaki team has started helping me out and this was my first race with them. It's been a real treat being involved with the team so far.  Everyone has been great and my bike looks pretty awesome too!

Tuesday, June 12, 2007

I've tried to catch up on the race reports but we're still working on getting them posted and adding more photos.  Things went well this past weekend in Kentucky but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed not to win.   At the same time, though, it's hard to be too down over losing it to a guy like Rodney.  He's a true champion and a great ambassador for this sport.  It really is a great opportunity to be able to race against him.  I've seen a few people mention how Rodney shouldn't be in the XC2 class and all that, but to me it's fine.  He lends a lot of credibility to the class and shows that XC2 guys have some speed too.  I can't believe how many people have come up to me and said "I heard you beat Rodney Smith!  That's awesome!"  Well, the truth is I've only beaten him once this year but we have had some pretty good battles.

It looks like I'm going to have to miss the Arkansas race this weekend but I hope everyone that attends has a great time.
